Meredith Brown, Ottawa Riverkeeper was selected to participate in the upcoming Water Caucus. The Canadian Environmental Network selected 25 ENGOs to participate to an ENGO & Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) workshop to strenghten the application of the Habitat Protection Provisions of the Fisheries Act.
The Workshop will take place in Ottawa, Ontario, on October 11-12, 2006. The objective of the workshop is to have an opportunity for DFO to discuss with ENGOs the policy and program changes being developed and implemented through the Environmental Process Modernization Plan and the drivers underlying those changes, so that ENGOs can better understand them and provide feedback to DFO; for ENGOs to discuss with DFO their underlying concerns, so that DFO can better understand them; and to identify ways and next steps for DFO and ENGOs to collaborate to achieve healthy and productive aquatic ecosystems.
