Fall Speaker Series: Biodiversity in the Ottawa River

The Ottawa RIVERKEEPER Speaker Series is open to all and free of charge; however donations to Ottawa RIVERKEEPER are encouraged. Each evening, two speakers are invited to deliver an important message to raise public awareness. The presentation will be followed by a 20 minute Question and Answer period. Please register at the MEC Member Services Desk at 613-729-2700.

Biodiversity in the Ottawa River
The speakers will describe 1) the biodiversity in the Ottawa River watershed, 2) the decline in biodiversity during to various activities, as well as 3) the actions citizens can take to protect the fragile ecosystems.

Speakers:
Andre Martel (Canadian Museum of Nature) presents – Freshwater Mussels of the Ottawa River: diversity, rare species and the linkage to fishes
Tim Haxton (Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources) presents – Lake sturgeon in a fragmented river
