Shoreline clean up organized by Ottawa Riverkeeper & CREDDO
In part of the Spring Cleaning the Capital campaign ~ Various locations - Saturday, April 29, 2006
Join the Ottawa River Clean Up.
A variety of local groups will be participating in the shoreline clean up on both sides of the Ottawa River in the National Capital Region. There will be a gathering on Bate Island (access from the Champlain Bridge) after the morning clean-up at 12:15 p.m. Food will be served near the new gazebo thanks to a generous donation from Moe’s Newport Restaurant.
Come with friends and children and enjoy the day!
- Join Meredith Brown, the Riverkeeper and the Mountain Equipment Co-op staff at the Mud Lake Britannia Conservaion Area. Mud Lake constitutes the most ecologically significant urban natural landscape in the National Capital Region. A major part of this relates to its acknowledged status as one of the prime urban birding locations in Canada. We will be meeting between 9:00 ‘til Noon at Mud Lake – parking is available at the Britannia Water Treatment Plant at the end of Cassels Road. If you are interested in joining us, please email Rebecca at rgoostrey@mec.ca.
- Join the Champlain Park Community Association in cleaning up the river shore beteween Champlain bridge and Parkdale Avenue. Meeting at Champlain Park Field House on Cowley Avenue north of Clearview Ave at 9 a.m. Coffee and doughnuts will be available. Wear gloves and bring your own garbage bag if you can. Some garbage bags will be available. The wooded areas are some of the few really protected by zoning natural areas in the former city of Ottawa.
