Mississippi-Rideau Source Protection Committee – February Meeting

Meetings are open to the public so everyone is welcome to attend!

TIME: 1 pm – Meeting Start

LOCATION: Rideau Valley Conservation Authority 3889 Rideau Valley Drive, Manotick

Main agenda topics are:

· Non-Agricultural Source Material Presentation

OMAFRA staff will outline how the storage and application of non-agricultural source material is currently regulated and existing best management practices.

· Nutrient Management Act Implementation Presentation

MOE staff will outline how requirements under the Nutrient Management Act are implemented and enforced.

· Source Protection Plan – Work Plan

Members will consider approving a work plan to develop Source Protection Plan policies, including public consultation elements.

· Assessment Reports – Public Comments and Updates

Members will receive a summary of the public comments that were submitted on the proposed Assessment Reports. These comments were submitted to the MOE in December, along with the proposed Assessment Reports. The MOE will consider the comments when reviewing the reports.

Staff will provide an overview of proposed Assessment Report updates to be undertaken prior to the reports being approved this summer.

The Mississippi-Rideau Source Protection Committee is a 16 member multi-stakeholder committee overseeing the development of Source Protection Plans in the Mississippi and Rideau watersheds. These plans are being developed under Ontario’s Clean Water Act, 2006. The Clean Water Act is focused on protecting sources of municipal drinking water from becoming contaminated or overused.
