Main agenda topics are:
Liquid Fuel and Aircraft De-icing
Ø Presentations: Staff will outline where the storage and handling of liquid fuel and runoff from aircraft de-icing can be considered a drinking water threat, and they will outline existing regulations and requirements pertaining to these activities.
Ø Draft Policy Ideas: Committee members will consider draft policy ideas to address the following activities where they are considered a drinking water threat:
§ Aircraft De-icing
§ Liquid Fuel storage and handling (e.g. gas stations, marinas, fuel supplies for farm equipment and heavy equipment)
Assessment Report Updates
Ø Refinements and Corrections: Committee members will consider approving a number of updates to the proposed Assessment Reports that were submitted to the MOE in December for review and approval. These updates incorporate more accurate information that became available during public consultation and correct editorial and formatting errors that were identified.
Ø MOE Review: The MOE is still in the process of reviewing our proposed Assessment Reports. Based on the outcome of that review, additional updates could be required before the reports are approved by the province.

The Mississippi-Rideau Source Protection Committee is a 16 member multi-stakeholder committee overseeing the development of Source Protection Plans in the Mississippi and Rideau watersheds. These plans are being developed under Ontario’s Clean Water Act, 2006. The Clean Water Act is focused on protecting sources of municipal drinking water from becoming contaminated or overused.
