The Ottawa Riverkeeper

Ottawa River Summit

Four Points Sheraton, Gatineau, QC - Friday, August 27, 2010

On August 27, 2010, Ottawa Riverkeeper, in cooperation with the National Capital Commission (NCC), will be hosting an exciting one-day summit in Canada’s Capital Region to bring leaders together to discuss the health and future of the Ottawa River and its tributaries. The Summit will bring together elected officials and municipal staff from large and small communities from the provinces of Québec and Ontario to create a shared awareness of the watershed and to promote the restoration and protection of our incredible shared resource – the Ottawa River.

The Summit will encourage First Nations leaders, elected officials and municipal staff from communities throughout the watershed to share information, experiences and successes, and to work cooperatively on river-related issues. The agenda for the Summit includes an overview of the current state of the Ottawa River, and a round table discussion about key watershed projects and initiatives, and a review of opportunities for collaboration on research and monitoring. Furthermore, the Summit aims to promote the sustainable use of river resources, increase public participation in decision-making that affects our lakes and rivers, and above all, to create a shared vision for the future of the Ottawa River.

Participation in this meeting is by invitation only. For more information please call Meredith: 613-321-1120
