To Members and Friends of the Friends of the Tay Watershed:
On the afternoon of Sunday, April 2nd, the FoTW will co-host a fascinating presentation on climate change by a foremost expert in this field, Paul Egginton. Mr. Egginton – the former Executive Director of the Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Program of Natural Resources Canada – has been involved for many years on climate change research. Paul is also a local Lanark County resident.Find out why climate change is not just about the temperature. The presentation will introduce this often-controversial topic with an overview of current national and international discussions of the cause and impact of climate change. It provides examples of indications of what is now happening to our climate and discusses potential implications for human society and the natural environment. Mr. Egginton will also present information on the methods used to study the problem. Are our local ecosystems robust enough to meet these challenges? Egginton says that climate change is an issue that will not be going to go away.
This event is part of the FoTW’s new program to cooperate in bringing environmental presentations to the community. We guarantee that you will find it of considerable interest.
The presentation, which will be co-hosted with the Rideau Valley Field Naturalists, will take place at 2:00 pm, at the Perth Swimming Pool meeting room, beside Stewart School.
There will be no charge for members of the Friends of the Tay Watershed and Rideau Valley Field naturalists. Non-members are welcome (a small charge of $5).
