Rally to Save the Gatineau River

Thursday, April 21, 2011

Show your support for a clean and healthy Gatineau River

Join a march in Old Chelsea before heading to the MRC’s regional meeting where they will be discussing everyone’s favourite topic: septage!

The MRC des Collines plans to build a massive regional septic sludge treatment plant on the Gatineau River north of Wakefield without credible consideration of any alternative approaches or technologies. This 10-acre facility will service over 20,000 septic tanks from 6 of the 7 municipalities of the MRC. Its lagoons will release effluent into the Gatineau River for at least the next 40 years. The Gatineau River is a part of our heritage and warrants protection for future generations.

Date: Thursday, April 21
Time: 6-7 pm (march), 7 pm (MRC meeting)
Location: Chelsea; starting point is the NCC Visitor Centre, 33 Scott Road; end point is the MRC des Collines Office at 216 Old Chelsea Road
Organizers: Action des Collines, Citizens for the Protection of the Gatineau, and many other concerned citizens
