uranium mining

Information from the Community Coalition Against Mining Uranium:

Notice to All Citizens of Ontario:

Frontenac Venture Corp, a uranium exploration company, has staked claims over a 30,000 acre parcel of land in North Frontenac.
If the mine goes through, it will leach radioactive material down the entire Mississippi Watershed, all the way to Ottawa, in a short period of time.
The planned exploration for uranium must be stopped!

Currently the Ardoch Algonquin First Nation and Sharbot Obaadgiwan First Nation have moved onto the ‘claimed land’ and plans to stay there until the exploration stops.
The purposed mine is in Algonquin territory, which was never surrendered or sold to the crown. Therefore, the Algonquin title and jurisdiction remains intact and prohibits Frontenac Ventures Corp.’s activities, without Algonquin consent.

The Community Coalition Against Mining Uranium protest the exploration and mining of uranium. The CCAMU is a group of concerned citizens, from all over the greater Ottawa Valley and Kingston regions, who have come together, to prevent a uranium mine from happening in the Frontenac and Lanark region. We are also calling for an Ontario wide moratorium on
uranium mining.
