This is a major fundraising event for Ottawa Riverkeeper. Last year over $3,000 was raised, and here is how you can help this year:

Participation in the Ottawa Riverkeeper Team Challenge is important for our Riverwatch Program. Helping Ottawa Riverkeeper to raise money beyond your entry fee by collecting pledges is vital.

The Event

The Ottawa Riverkeeper Team Challenge presented by Mountain Equipment Coop consists of:

Swim Triathlon Team Challenge: swim 500m – cycle 20Km – run 5Km. Each of the three team members will do one of three relay legs.

OR

Canoe Triathlon Team Challenge: paddle 5Km – cycle 20Km – run 5Km. You can choose from the two-person team or the four-person team. In the two-person team, both paddle and then one cycles and the other runs. In the four-person team, two team members paddle, the third cycles and the fourth runs. Canoes must be a minimum of 17” wide 4” up from the bottom exclusive of the keel. Teams with canoes that do not meet this requirement will compete as “exhibition only” and will not be eligible for awards.

The event offers something for everyone. Last year there were over 600 participants and early indications are for a significant increase this year – see Somersault Promotions for details.
