1. Safety
Bottled water is not legally required to meet the same stringent standards as municipal drinking water.
2. Transparency
Bottled water testing information is not made available to the public like tap water testing is.
3. Cost
Bottled water costs 1000 times more than tap water! The average price of a glass of tap water is $0.001! The average price of bottled water is $1.06
4. Water Usage
3L of water is used in the production of each litre of bottled water.
5. Conservation
Mass water taking for the production of bottled water depletes resources for future generations.
6. Environment
Plastic bottles take 200+ years to disintegrate. Many municipalities send their plastic bottle waste to landfills – not recycling centres.
7. Health
The evidence of health risks from certain plastics is increasingly appearing in established, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
8. Stop Privatization
Bottled water providers use our water supply to achieve their primary goal – profits.
9. Community Support
Unlike private corporations, municipalities provide a safe and regulated service for the benefit of their communities.
10. Source
Bottled water that is labeled ‘demineralized’ or ‘distilled’ is usually tap water. Aquafina and Dasani are two examples.
