Ottawa Riverkeeper Committees

Our organizational work is done through a number of volunteer committees coordinated by the members of the board of directors and staff. For more information, please contact the chair of each committee.

SCIENCE COMMITTEE

First and foremost, Ottawa Riverkeeper is a science-based organization. The main purpose of the Science Committee is to assist the Riverkeeper in becoming THE technical expert on Ottawa River matters.

Responsibilities include:

Participants – Meredith Brown (Chair – The Riverkeeper), Colin Rennie (civil engineer), Ole Hendrickson (environmental scientist), Chris Pullen (fisheries biologist), Dan McPhee (biologist), David Lee (aquatic ecologist), Eric Schwartz (GIS consultant), Irene Pestov (numerical modeller), Mary Trudeau (water and wastewater policy consultant), Rob Kent (water quality), Steven Cooke (fish ecologist)

PUBLIC OUTREACH COMMITTEE

This committee has three main goals:

  1. To motivate people of all ages in Ontario and Quebec to become stewards of the river and take actions towards improving the ecological health of the Ottawa River watershed
  2. To increase public knowledge of the Ottawa River system and issues that jeopardize its ecological integrity
  3. To promote a positive image of the Ottawa Riverkeeper as the voice of the river

FUNDRAISING & MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

The fundraising committee seeks to secure sufficient operational funds for Ottawa Riverkeeper. They write the grants to foundations to support our programs and works to ensure our members are happy and engaged.
