The strength of Ottawa Riverkeeper programs depends on the help of volunteers. Our volunteer opportunities are designed to create an experience that is rewarding for both the volunteer and the organization, and beneficial to the health of our river.
We have a volunteer board of directors and three staff members who work hard to build this citizen-based organization. Our strategic planning is done through a number of volunteer committees coordinated by the board of directors and staff.
The support of our volunteers is ever growing. In 2008, 331 people offered their skills and time. The total number of volunteers has doubled in two years, now representing the equivalent of 5 full-time employees. Overall, that’s an increase of over 1500 volunteer hours in the last year!
