Application from Golfcourse to Take Water from Jock R. Denied

In April of 2005 the Riverbend Golf Course applied to take an additional 737,000 litres of water from the Jock River. The Friends of the Jock River were immediately alerted to this application and were very concerned that the river would be significantly impacted by withdrawals of this magnitude. Ottawa Riverkeeper wrote a letter to the Onatrio Minister of Environment outlining our concerns about the permit; you can download it here:

Over six months later, the Environment Ministry has denied the golf course access to the water. A small win that would likely not have happened without the intervention from stewardship groups like The Friends of the Jock River and Ottawa Riverkeeper.
