On March 5, 2003, Québec’s Environment Minister announced adoption of a landmark Pesticide Management Code which strictly regulates the storage, sales and use of pesticides in Québec. This is Canada’s first province-wide ban of cosmetic pesticides
The final stage of the Pesticide Management Code of Québec will come into effect on April 3, 2006. In Québec, it means that a population of 7.5 million people and their environment will be protected from the use of 20 active pesticide ingredients used for lawn care. The banning of these pesticide active ingredients means that 212 pesticide products will be banned for sale and use in Québec.
