In the wake of Wednesday’s severe thunderstorm four public beaches in the area have been closed.
The City of Ottawa has closed Petrie Island, Westboro, and Mooney’s Bay beaches. The city cites high levels of bacteria for forcing them to close down the popular swimming spots.

The National Capital Commission has also announced Lac-Leamy Beach has been closed temporarily.
