The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission has denied a Pembroke company’s request for a renewal of its licence to operate a nuclear substance processing facility. The commission decided not to renew SRB Technologies Inc.’s licence “based on its opinion that (the company) will not make adequate provision for the protection of the environment when carrying out activities that include the processing of tritium.” It noted, however, that radioactive material that was released from the facility has not posed a health and safety risk to the public.
