OTTAWA — A forecast of three days of rain could spell bad news for residents along the Rideau River between Kemptville and Kars.
The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority says flooding could occur along the Long Reach of the Rideau given the increase in rainfall forecast by Environment Canada. Though water levels have fallen over the past few days, if the rainfall is as heavy as predicted, then flooding is expecte in low-lying areas of Lorne Bridge, Hilly Lane, Cedar Beach, Fairmile and Rideau Glen.
Increased flows elsewhere in the watershed are expected to cause some flooding of only the lowest lying areas that should not affect any buildings.
The authority warns residents to steer clear of swift-moving water.
Updated information will be posted on the conservation authority’s website at www.rvca.ca
