Councillor Wants AG to Probe Development Review Process

Josh Pringle, CFRA - Wednesday, October 14, 2009

An Ottawa City Councillor wants the Auditor General to look at the City of Ottawa’s Development Review Process, including for developments that drain into the Carp River.

In a motion for Wednesday’s Council meeting, Councillor Shad Qadri wants Council to ask the Auditor General to consider modifying his 2010 Audit Plan to include an audit of the Development Review Process, in relation to approval of water, wastewater and stormwater servicing.

The motion also asks for an audit of the city’s ongoing operations and maintenance practices in relation to protecting the water environment.

The Auditor General completed an Audit of the Carp River Watershed Study and Related Projects in 2007, which included an in-camera report on the Glen Cairn Channelization.

Qadri also wants the new audit to include a review of the remedial measures regarding Glen Cairn, both already undertaken and planned for the future.
