2 managers fired over 2006 discharge
Two city managers have been fired and one supervisor has been suspended without pay over their involvement in August 2006 raw sewage spill.
The Sun has learned that a managers and program manager from the city’s water and wastewater branch were fired Wednesday afternoon. Last May, a director was reprimanded and a city supervisor, Jean-Pierre Boisseau, was fired after he admitted to lying to senior staff about informing Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment when a billion litres of raw sewage spilled into the Ottawa River.
The city blames an antiquated sewer regulator which didn’t close properly for the spill. However, the law requires the city to inform the MoE of the spill immediately.
