While the City of Ottawa has closed its beaches for the season, the National Capital Commission reopened Leamy Lake Beach yesterday morning. The beach, closed since June 27 because of unsafe high water levels, is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Brien, Blanchet, Breton, Parent and La Pêche beaches, in Gatineau Park, are open daily from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Those swimming at Ottawa’s beaches at Britannia, Westboro, Mooney’s Bay and Petrie Island do so at their own risk. Ottawa has also pulled the plug for the season at 55 wading pools.
