Millions of litres of raw sewage has flowed into the Ottawa River from City of Ottawa pipes so far this year.
Through the first seven months of 2011, heavy rain and snow melt has forced 360 million litres of raw sewage and untreated water into the Ottawa River.
In 2010, 443 million litres of raw sewage and untreated water overflowed the system and into the historic waterway.
Mayor Jim Watson is calling on the Ontario and Federal Governments to help fund the construction of sewage storage tanks to collect untreated water during heavy rain events and prevent it from flowing into the waterway.
