Ottawa Riverkeeper announced as finalist for Earth Day Canada’s Hometown Heroes Award

OTTAWA, ON – Ottawa Riverkeeper is proud to be named as a top 10 finalist for the 2010 national Hometown Heroes Award. The Hometown Heroes Award Program was established in 2004 by Earth Day Canada to recognize and celebrate environmental leaders, groups and organizations who foster meaningful, long–term community awareness and action.

Ottawa Riverkeeper has been involved in a number of important projects, including:

“Ottawa Riverkeeper is a citizen and volunteer driven organization that is working on behalf of millions of people in this region who depend on clean and safe water. It’s a tremendous honour to be recognized, as a group, for the work that we are collectively doing. We owe so much thanks to the many individuals in this community who share our vision for a healthy river system”, says Meredith Brown, Executive Director and Riverkeeper at Ottawa Riverkeeper.

Ottawa Riverkeeper would like to Congratulate Green Here, this years winner of the group award. Green Here works in Toronto’s Davenport-Perth community to convert paved urban spaces, including school yards, into living environments.
