Ottawa Riverkeeper Embarks on 900 Kilometre Journey

Moose FM, Bancroft - Saturday, July 09, 2011

Riverkeeper Meredith Brown and a team of expert educators, scientists, adventurers, paddlers, photojournalists and historians have set off on a 900 kilometre paddling trip down the Ottawa River. Armed with state-of-the-art water quality monitoring gear and photo/video capabilities, the team will travel from Fort Temiscaming to Montreal, collecting real-time water quality samples, which will be used to create a report card of the rivers’ true health and shine a spotlight on the regions worst water pollution offenders. The project also aims to raise awareness about local water issues and inspire a stronger sense community water stewardship and citizen participation.
