Perfect Score for Drinking Water Systems

Josh Pringle, CFRA News - Monday, May 10, 2010

The city’s General Manager of Environmental Services says Ottawa residents continue to be supplied with a “reliable and high quality supply of drinking water.”

Dixon Weir makes the comment in a report on the Municipal Drinking Water for Tuesday’s Planning and Environment Committee meeting.

The report shows a 2009 inspection of the seven City-operated drinking water systems by the Ministry of Environment resulted in seven perfect scores.

All seven facilities received 100 per cent in the final inspection rating for quality of water delivered to taps across Ottawa.

Last year, the City delivered an average of 292 million litres of drinking water from two treatment plants to 825-thousand residents and businesses everyday.
