Representatives from Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority met yesterday with representatives from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Canada to discuss the shoreline restoration on the Rideau River undertaken at the Embassy last week.
Information was shared by the Embassy representatives regarding the intent of the restoration. Information was shared by the river officials on the local regulatory requirements concerning shoreline development and on acceptable remediation measures.
All parties to the meeting expressed their goodwill and a wish to move forward in a cooperative manner to resolve the situation as soon as possible. A positive resolution for all concerned parties is expected.
This kind of cooperation between property owners and river officials helps ensure that we all enjoy safe, stable, natural shorelines along the Rideau River.
