Ottawa’s Planning and Environment Committee will hold a special meeting next week to discuss the proposed new landfill and environmental centre near the Carp Road dump.
Committee Chair Peter Hume has called a special meeting to discuss the proposed terms of reference for an environmental assessment of a new landfill footprint at the West Carleton Environmental Centre.
Waste Management announced plans in April for a West Carleton Environmental Centre, which will combine recycling, landfill and composting facilities for the region.
The company says the primary focus of the new environmental centre will be “recycling”, but it will also house a landfill with the capacity to handle up to 400-thousand tonnes of waste a year for a decade.
