A one-day summit involving Ottawa Riverkeeper, the NCC, First Nations leaders and municipal staff from Ontario and Quebec is planned for Aug. 27 to discuss the health and the future of the Ottawa River.
The Ottawa River Summit, to take place in the National Capital Region, will encourage participants to share information, experiences and successes on river-related issues. The agenda will include an overview of the current state of the Ottawa River, a round-table discussion on watershed projects and a review of opportunities for collaboration on research and monitoring.
“The goals of the summit are to improve information sharing, to inspire municipalities to take action, and to establish an effective commitment to protect and restore the Ottawa River,” said Ottawa Riverkeeper executive director Meredith Brown.
