An Ottawa Riverkeeper Diver noticed a large amount of what appeared to be raw sewage on the water just about a mile up river from Quyon, Quebec. The spill looked large, far bigger than an illegal dumping from a boat.
Further investigations revealed that other divers see sewage in this area on regular basis. However, Chats Falls Riverwatchers did not notice any raw sewage from the Ontario shore at this time.
Sewage might be released from one of the towns upstream of the dam. The Riverkeeper is investigating further the pollution.
