During his numerous dives in the Ottawa River and in part of the Colonge River, Andy was still amazed at the garbage one come across. Once things go in they are there forever. Plastic and metal seem to form the bulk of it. Likely from careless people or runoff from towns.
Andy also observed the great amount of logs still EVERYWHERE from the logging era. As usual – attention to boaters as these logs tend to float up at the worst possible times. As they float along one end usually drags along the bottom leaving a drag mark which likely disturbs nesting areas for fish. The Ottawa Riverkeeper Divers continue to pull these out so they are not a hazard to people or the environment.
All in all the River looks the same – beautiful despite of the abuse from humans.
