History of Pollution
For over a century and a half, concerns about water quality and the condition of aquatic life along the Ottawa River have risen among residents of the waterway’s neighbouring communities. Successive generations and all levels of government have debated the state of the river; they have expressed doubts about its future and even some fears for their own health and safety. However, no sustained arrangements were ever devised to safeguard the Ottawa River from contamination and neglect.
