(also called a meadow frog or the northern leopard frog)
Lithobates pipiens
Size: The Leopard frog’s length is usually 5-9 cm.
Habitat: The Leopard frog can live in prairies and woodland. They hibernate on the bottom of bodies of water that don’t freeze.
Diet: This species of frogs eat insects, worms and spiders.
Native/ Non-native: Native to California and North America.
Status: The Leopard frog is currently threatened by habitat loss, over exploitation.
Fun Fact: The Leopard frog can live 2-4 years in the wild. A group of frogs is called an army.
