Moose

Moose or Alces alces

Size : Adults range from 270 to 370 kg with males at the heavier end of the range.

Habitat : Usually temperate forests but they spend a lot of time in the water eating aquatic plants

Diet : Terrestrial and aquatic vegetation. They have special adaptations for eating plants under water.

Native/non-native : Spread throughout the northern hemisphere.

Status : Not endangered but populations have been declining rapidly in the last 30 years.

Fun Fact : Moose do not have sweat glands. When temperatures get hot moose cool off in ponds and browse on pond plants.
