Shoreline Cleanup in Ripon – October 7th, 2021

Join us on Thursday, October 7th from 3-5 pm for a shoreline cleanup at Marie-Frappier-Grosleau rest area in collaboration with the MRC de Papineau!

The summer may be coming to an end, but our shoreline cleanups continue! For September, we are very proud to be partnering with the MRC d’Argenteuil, the MRC de Papineau, and the United Counties of Prescott & Russell, who, united by the common goal of a clean and healthy Ottawa River, joined into an agreement called the Pacte d’amitié.

Ottawa Riverkeeper will provide hand sanitizer, gloves and bags at the beach. However, we encourage volunteers to bring their own equipment as well. It is crucial to wear sturdy, appropriate footwear and clothing, and, if you wish, to bring a reusable water bottle and bug spray. Although the event is taking place outside we encourage you to wear masks when unable to keep physical distance!

WHERE: Marie-Frappier-Grosleau rest area, 54 Chemin du Lac Grosleau, Ripon, QC J0V 1V0
WHEN: October 7th 2021, from 3pm to 5pm
REGISTERSign up as an individual or as a household on Eventbrite.

In preparation for the event, we encourage you to take a look at our Guide to Solo Shoreline Cleanups for more details on how to participate safely. If you have any questions feel free to email us at communications@ottawariverkeeper.ca

The Pacte d’amitié’s commitment to keeping the Ottawa River clean stretches beyond the municipal boundaries of its constituents to the entirety of the watershed by funding the development of Ottawa Riverkeeper’s shoreline cleanup app, iCleanup. With iCleanup, you can add your own personal cleanups to the watershed community’s total, allowing us to keep working together to keep our rivers clean, even when we’re apart! So, if you can’t make it to any of these cleanups, just head down to your local shoreline for a solo cleanup and record your collection totals in iCleanup!
