Current Conversations: Epic River Journeys – August 13th, 2025

An evening about epic journeys along the Ottawa River! Two stories from two river adventurers. Join in on Wednesday, August 13th from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Join us for Current Conversations, a summer speaker series hosted in Ottawa Riverkeeper’s Learning Lab at the NCC River House, every other Wednesday evening. Each event will feature interesting speakers or presenters, refreshments, and a chance to learn, discuss, and ask questions about the river.

Join ultra-marathon swimmer Sarah Dobbin and writer Dan Rubinstein for an evening of stories from the water. This special event brings together two unique river journeys: Dobbin’s upcoming 50-kilometre swim along the Ottawa River, and Rubinstein’s 1,200-mile solo paddleboard expedition exploring the healing power of “blue space.” Hear how each found challenge, insight, and connection through their time on the water — and why the river matters.
