Youth

In the last couple weeks the Youth Water Leaders have learned about fisheries science, invasive species, and human impacts on freshwater ecosystems.

A month into the program, the 2022 cohort of Youth Water Leaders are learning about issues of environmental justice, sustainability, indigenous relations to water and land, and have begun getting out into the field to explore the watershed.

The 2022 cohort of the Youth Water Leaders Program has been launched! These incredible youth will be spending the next 8 months learning about the watershed, creating projects to help protect the river, and building the skills to be lifelong water protectors.

Every year, participants in our Youth Water Leaders Program create and implement service projects to spread awareness or take action to protect the river and the watershed. This year was no different, with these young leaders getting extra creative in the face of new challenges. Explore some of their projects with us!

On Saturday, August 28, Ottawa Riverkeeper’s Youth Water Leaders could be found at Lac Leamy Beach and Park sharing watershed facts with the public.
