Borrow materials from our WaterSHED

Ottawa Riverkeeper’s WaterSHED is an accessible sharing shed for educators and community members to borrow our well-loved educational resources and shoreline cleanup equipment.

Whether you are a teacher borrowing our popular watershed model or a community group leading a shoreline cleanup, the materials in the WaterSHED are available at no cost. We offer these resources so that you can help expand the work of Ottawa Riverkeeper to protect and promote the health of the Ottawa River watershed. Thank you!

Open year-round across the road from the NCC River House, the WaterSHED can be accessed at your convenience. The first step is to fill out a loan request form.

Shoreline Cleanup Kits

Fill in the form below if you wish to borrow equipment from Ottawa Riverkeeper to host your own shoreline cleanup.

Items provided: buckets, grabbers, tongs, gloves, sharp object containers and much more. Since a shoreline cleanup involves many bits and pieces, please be vigilant with all the material. If you notice any damage to the equipment or if you are missing any pieces, please let us know. If any of the items are lost or damaged, you may be responsible to cover replacement costs. Ottawa Riverkeeper is not responsible for any injury that happens at your shoreline cleanup event.

This equipment, specifically the buckets, takes up a lot of space. Ensure that your vehicle can accommodate 15 or more buckets and other cleanup equipment. All of the equipment is stored in the WaterSHED (our sharing shed) at the Ottawa New Edinburgh Club’s space across the road from the NCC River House. More specific details about the shed’s location and how to receive your equipment will be sent by email to you once your order is processed. When you return the equipment, we ask that you please clean the buckets before bringing them back.

In return for borrowing an Ottawa Riverkeeper Shoreline Cleanup Kit, we do ask the following:

Encourage your volunteers to connect to our work by signing up for our newsletter and donating to the organization
Post about your cleanup on your social media channels and tag Ottawa Riverkeeper
Send us photos of your cleanup, both a group photo and some action shots
Report back on the specified details of your cleanup that include: the cleanup location, the date of your event, the name of the group that did the cleanup (if applicable), links to any social media posts about the event, the number of participants, the weight in kilograms of material collected, the approximate size of the area cleaned (km²)
